The judging process

Entries are circulated to all judges for detailed examination. The judging panel meet in mid-May to decide on provisional shortlists for all categories, subject to background ‘safety’ checks by the HSE. Shortlists are announced in mid June.

All entrants are notified whether or not their entry(ies) has/have been shortlisted.

Projects shortlisted in any UK category are automatically entered for the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award so long as they fulfil the necessary criteria. PM Award short listed projects are required to complete a questionnaire to provide further information to assist the judges.

Following the shortlisting, members of the judging panel visited all UK shortlisted projects in June and July.

For the international award, teams representing the short listed entries were invited to an interview with the international judges in central London on Thursday 19 June. The international judges may then visit one or more projects to obtain further information to assist their assessment.

All judges meet after the judging programme is complete to decide on winners in all categories.

Results will remain confidential until they are announced at the Gala Awards Presentation Dinner
